Whitewater Therapeutic Riding thrives thanks to its volunteers!
- “I get as much out of it as the riders.”
- “One of the best times of my life”.
- “His smile, when the horse walked on, made my day”.
- “Seeing an 84 year old woman touch the horse’s nose and remember her own horse was one the most touching moments of my life”.
These are comments made by past volunteers in WTRRA programs. WTRRA is welcoming individuals interested in volunteering as leaders, side-walkers facility caretakers, gate tenders, participants in fund raising events.
WTRRA is an accredidated by center and complies with all the industry standards set forth by Professional Association of Therapeutic Horseman including volunteer training. This training includes several hours of classroom and 2 hours of additional training with horses in the arena. Interested individuals do not need prior riding experience or experience with individuals with disabilities. They do need to be able to walk for 1 hour while leading a horse or side walking a rider. They should feel comfortable around horses.
Individuals interested in volunteering in other aspects the program are also welcome. Read about our current volunteer positions here! For more information about volunteering, please contact Joyce Scott at info@whitewatertherapeutic.com or 208-469-0617, 208-634-7260.
