HOW DO WE ARRANGE TO USE THE ARENA?

The Whitewater Board of Directors welcomes groups  and individuals interested in using the arena for equine or non-equine events and activities.  To avoid confusion and conflicts WTRRA requests that groups interested in using the arena on  a regular basis or for a one-time event reserve the arena by:

  • Checking the  WTRRA calendar under the events link.
  • Contacting Joyce Scott @ 208-634-7260 or 208-469-0617 to reserve dates

Review the arena rules and regulations which include:

  • Provide proof of insurance to cover clinics or  instruction if applicable
  • Agree that all participants will complete the hold harmless form on site
  • If requesting regular group use, agree that each participant will donate $2.00 per ride and join at some level of membership.
  • Ensure that the facility is left in a clean and safe condition.
  • Individuals using the arena to teach MUST provide proof of insurance and are asked to donate %10 of the proceeds from classes to WTRRA.

4-H or youth groups may approach the Board for special considerations, ie: in-kind donations of labor around the facility.

Rates for groups holding clinics will be determined on an individual basis.

WTRRA does not reserve the arena for individuals and casual riding. The arena is large enough for riders to share time and space.  Membership is recommended and appreciated but is not required. The organization does require that riders sign in prior to each ride and complete the hold harmless form once a year.  This information is important to support grant requests and verify community use of the arena.

Joyce Scott, Executive Director, explained that money raised from the $2.00 per ride policy will help pay for upkeep of the arena footing, which includes dragging, watering and occasional disking.  Memberships and donations support the therapeutic riding programs; cover the expense of additional insurance required because the arena is open to the public and help cover the cost of lights and heat. Drop boxes for donations and forms will soon be available at each end of the arena.

Ms. Scott expressed appreciation to the community for the wonderful support during 2009.   Plans for 2010 include the annual Rich Rodgers Ride-a-thon, NARHA Center Accreditation and a NARHA Instructor Certification clinic.  Programs will include Ride Tall, Kids and Horses, Recreational Riding for Adults with Developmental Disabilities, Time with Tater and additional therapeutic programs as instructors and therapists are available.
